For me, this is the best thing to come along since I have been installing landscape lighting around my home. Sometimes you cannot get a traditional stake to go into clay or rocky soil. Then, if you do, they deteriorate over time. The Trident stake goes in relatively easy. It also allows you to reposition lights easily. My two complaints are cost and the relative ease with which you can break one of the stainless steel spikes: If you are trying to jam them into rocky soil you can break them off and then the whole stake is a loss. I have a lot of heavy gravel around my driveway (thanks to the builder) and these are a god-send - except when they break:(
